By improving the stadium lighting, Albacete Balompié take the first step in modernising the Estadio Carlos Belmonte
  • The club from Castilla-La Mancha decided to install a new lighting system, with the aim of improving the experience and the spectacle, as well as adapting to the LALIGA’s television broadcast guidelines.
  • They will continue making improvements to its stadium in order “to position the Estadio Carlos Belmonte as one of the most attractive leisure and entertainment options in Castilla-La Mancha”.

The Estadio Carlos Belmonte now has new lighting, as Albacete Balompié hope to offer the club’s fans a better experience when they come to the stadium. This is why the club overhaled its lighting system, making important improvements that have taken months of work. Following this update, those at the club expect this to just be the beginning and that further remodelling of the venue will follow.

Going into further detail, 184 LED floodlights across the four floodlight towers and the roofs of the Preferencia and Tribuna stands were installed, in addition to the installation of a RDM/DMX lights show system. The electrical infrastructure was also updated and a generator set was put in exclusively for the stadium, providing it with an independent electricity supply in case of an emergency. Furthermore, all the wiring has been replaced.

Iner Smart Energy System, the company behind the project, explained: “This work has required a lot of organisation, both internally and externally. We encountered a few small setbacks, but we overcame them and we are very proud of the work done and of making the stadium fully illuminated. The visibility in the stadium has improved a lot with the LED lights, both for the fans in attendance and for the viewers watching at home.”

Discussing the challenges of this project, they pointed out: “It was complicated to adapt to the existing installations, to renovate all the old parts and remove all the wiring from these installations.”

For Iner, the main energy commercialisation company in Castilla-La Mancha, and one of the most important in electrical installations in the region, this project is viewed as “a turning point” because it has shown that they are capable of carrying out major works such as the one at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte. Furthermore, in terms of sponsorship, it served to consolidate the relationship between the club and the company. They explained: “We started out with a small sponsorship and we have been gradually increasing it, to the point where we are on the front of the shirt. This also makes us very proud because we have been growing together with the club, and this has been another step in the collaboration between Iner Smart Energy System and Albacete Balompié.”

Improving the experience and services at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte

In the match against Racing Club Ferrol, in Matchday 32 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, Albacete Balompié first showed off the new lighting system, which allows them to run a lights show to the rhythm of the music. That makes for more of a party atmosphere at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte during the build-up to matches, which sticks in the minds of the attendees.

As part of this project, the club also made considerable improvements regarding the television broadcasts at the stadium. From now on, it will be possible to broadcast in HD using LED technology.

Víctor Varela, vice-president of Albacete Balompié, believes in improving the fan experience and hopes these updates will help boost attendance figures and attract new fans. He said: “It’s key to improve the fan experience at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte and the services offered, not only to increase attendance and encourage the recruitment of new fans but also to build loyalty among those who are attracted by the sport and decide to enjoy the spectacle of LALIGA football live with us.”

Varela also said that this lighting project is the first major improvement at the stadium, but that they are still working to enhance the facilities further, in order to offer a better service to their fans. He added: “The lighting is just the first step. The improvement of the video scoreboard, of the food and beverage services, of the atmosphere, of the dynamic advertising supports and of the hospitality areas of the stadium should all come together to position the Estadio Carlos Belmonte as one of the most attractive leisure and entertainment options in Castilla-La Mancha.”
