NBA Warriors submit plan to test all fans before they are allowed to enter, hoping State will approve 50% capacity

Rapid PCR testing for all fans

Although California has been among the most regulated states in dealing with the pandemic, the Golden State Warriors have implemented a pro-active stance by developing an innovative and progressive proposal that the club hopes the state’s health authorities will approve.  The Warriors offered to pay the cost ($30M) of rapid PCR testing for all fans desiring to enter the arena in exchange for allowing up to 50% capacity, which is well beyond current government regulations.  Only days later, the health authorities rejected the proposal, but did suggest they could potentially allow 25% capacity.  It’s a win for the Warriors, as 25% is far greater than zero, and by communicating a plan to the public (achieving global publicity) that goes well beyond the normal safety measures, the Warriors are already responding to the reluctance that some fans will have to return to the arena, because of fear.  Well done!
