LaLiga designs three projects in Africa in support of the #OneHumanity campaign
  • LaLiga has created three projects supporting its global UNAOC collaboration in Nigeria, Tanzania and Senegal, where sporting activities will be mixed with education.
  • The local appeal of its messages will be strengthened by partnerships with organisations such as the Nigeria Women Football League, the Senegalese Football Association and the NGO Born to Learn.

As one of the key partners of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and its #OneHumanity campaign, LaLiga plays an active role in supporting global inclusion initiatives and uses the power of football to spread global messages. The league has strengthened these efforts by organising three events in support of its UNAOC alliance, to be held in Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania.

The first activity took place in Lagos, Nigeria, where LaLiga hosted the “Show your other side challenge.” Organised in partnership with the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), the event aimed to strengthen the profile of women's football in the country and Africa as a whole.

Involving more than 200 players and 16 teams from the NWFL, LaLiga held a day of sports challenges at the Elegbeta sports complex as well as an all-star game. The main objective of this was to bring together people of different gender, social groups and ethnicities and share messages of solidarity and community.

LaLiga also travelled to Tanzania to hold “The Dreaming Day,” a competition featuring eight clubs in collaboration with the NGO Born to Learn, which showcased the role of football in promoting education, social integration and gender equality as well as combating racism and discrimination.

The three-day competition gathered eight teams from the Kilimanjaro region for a tournament where they represented eight LaLiga clubs: Atlético de Madrid, Cádiz CF, CD Leganés, Real Betis, RC Celta de Vigo, SD Huesca, Elche CF and Villarreal CF.

New camp to be held in Senegal in June

Continuing this momentum into June, LaLiga will then organise "Together as One", a one-day camp in Thies (Senegal) that will include a series of sports events and life skills workshops involving 100 local children.

Activities will be aimed at promoting diversity and mutual respect among young children, helping girls and boys become advocates in their communities as well sharing the broader messages of the #OneHumanity campaign which focus on inclusion , discipline, gender equality and solidarity.

To underline how the values of sport can help support these objectives, Seyni N. Sick, President of FutFem at the Senegalese Football Association (FSF) and Mamadou G. Diop, former top basketball player with Spain’s Baskonia, will provide mentoring support for the youngsters and share their experiences with attendees.
