Following its global agreement with LaLiga, the first of the five major football leagues in the world to join the platform, Sorare, the non-fungible token (NFT) fantasy game, announces the addition of all LaLiga SmartBank 22 teams (Spain's second division) and the launch of digital cards for all its players.

Thanks to this agreement, for the first time, fantasy football fans, collectors and players from all over the world will be able to collect, trade and play with digital cards of players from these teams in Sorare and call upon their football knowledge to recruit the most promising players from LaLiga SmartBank. 

According to Michael Meltzer, Director of Business Development at Sorare: “One of the things Sorare users enjoy most is the ability to act as a talent scout, identifying the next star before anyone else. Many of the world's best players started their careers at different levels, and we are delighted to help promising future players to become familiar to fans around the world through the fantasy game”. 

This agreement will provide the 22 LaLiga SmartBank clubs with access to new revenue streams and help them increase their international exposure and attract new fans, including the 2 million users already registered with Sorare. The clubs will be able to reach new audiences, interact with them in a unique way and grow their fan base, as currently only 5% of Sorare users are Spanish, which shows very high growth potential.

European Fantasy League

This announcement with LaLiga SmartBank is part of a global move by the company to partner with the second divisions from Europe's top five leagues, and also includes the EFL Championship in England, the 2. Bundesliga in Germany, Serie B in Italy and Ligue 2 BKT in France. In addition, to support the spread of the new cards, Sorare plans to launch a new fantasy competition with players from these teams.

The "Second Division Europe" will be available soon and Sorare managers will be able to participate in it with their new cards, as well as gaining access to international competitions. 

“Our goal with this Second Division Fantasy League is to draw more attention to these incredible teams that are also part of the world's top leagues. Spain, for example, has great clubs with hundreds of thousands of fans in these categories and the world needs to know about them,” says Meltzer.
