LaLiga launches 'The MBA of LaLiga' to prepare future leaders in sports and entertainment
  • The exclusive master's degree will be taught in English to a maximum of 20 students.
  • Experts from leading brands in the entertainment sector join LaLiga professionals and its 42 teams to provide students with the broadest vision and most precise knowledge of the sports industry.

Through its educational department, LaLiga Business School, LaLiga is launching an international MBA entitled 'The MBA of LaLiga' to identify and prepare new professionals who want to lead change in the sports and entertainment industry.

Featuring the participation of top professionals in the sports industry, the MBA will draw from case studies from LaLiga, clubs as well as technical and digital leaders from the world of sports and entertainment.

Among its objectives, the MBA aims to lay the foundations for the transformation of the sports and entertainment industries, focusing on new technologies, representation of women and social evolution as drivers of innovation and entrepreneurship.

"Doing the same thing from one year to the next is no longer an option in the sports industry", commented Óscar Mayo, LaLiga's Director of Business, Marketing and International Development. "We have entered the era of the continuous update. This MBA underlines LaLiga's commitment to the ongoing professionalisation of the sector, training and supporting people who want to find professional fulfilment through the expansion of an industry where new challenges arise every day and new opportunities are born".

Six-part structure with personalised teaching

The programme will be divided into six modules led by experts including Patricia Rodríguez, Director of Granada C.F.; Jorge de la Vega, sales and marketing director at LaLiga; María Wandosell, CEO of Motorpress Ibérica; Ornella D. Bellia, head of professional football at FIFA; Jaume Pons, Head of Social Media and Digital Content at LaLiga and Amadeo Salvo, Executive Vice President of Power Electronics.

The content will be supervised by Óscar Mayo and Edouard Legendre, external advisor to LaLiga and recognised international expert in brand management and sports marketing.

The MBA will be heavily focused on personalised and individualised training, which is why there will be a maximum of 20 places for students. The master's programme will last 9 months, however courses may be completed in up to 3 years.

LaLiga's continued investment in education

LaLiga Business School was created four seasons ago as a result of the company's firm commitment to further training. "At LaLiga we attach great importance to education, which we see as the first step towards the professionalisation of the sports industry”, explained José Moya, director of LaLiga Business School.

In the 2019/2020 season, a total of 70 students received training and professional orientation from LaLiga Business School, a number that has already reached 179 this season. The growth is enabled by an increased portfolio of courses and masters programmes offered and by the internationalisation of LaLiga Business School, which has a total of 22 international educational partnerships with Universities and Sports Institutions around the world.

“This is one of our main differentiating values, as all programmes are developed internally by LaLiga professionals who are actively involved in the industry on a daily basis and understand its changes, challenges and needs,” Moya concluded. “The content, methodologies and teaching staff are designed and developed internally, creating cutting-edge programmes that seek to respond to the needs of our industry".
