The protocol eliminates the NBA’s famous courtside seats for the time being
The National Basketball Association sent a memo to its 30 clubs providing a range of pandemic protocols in order to welcome back a limited number of fans when the next season starts in late December (with a reduced 72-game format). The protocol is subject to local health regulations, and addresses topics like health screenings, personal protective equipment, social distancing, fan testing, seating configurations and other measures. The protocol eliminates the NBA’s famous courtside seats (pictured above) for the time being. The pro-active move by the league is an effort to apply consistent standards across the league, in an effort to promote fan confidence, and to help clubs convince local regulators that fans can attend safely until such time as a vaccine has been administered to the majority of the U.S. population (and, perhaps, to 100% of game attendees).
