How MLS and US Soccer are leveraging match data

A fascinating partnership that serves multiple interests

Major League Soccer (MLS) and U.S. Soccer have fully aligned their interests in several aspects, including commercial assets, marketing and a variety of grassroots programs.  Now, they have collaborated to enter into an exclusive agreement with a single vendor, Stats Perform.  In addition to licensing real-time data to betting companies, creating premium value that goes well beyond traditional sponsorship rights, they are also collecting data for the benefit of player development, as match data from over 3000 academy matches are also being collected and provided to MLS coaches and scouts.
